Ipswich Gang Show 2017

Wednesday, 5 April, 2017 - 19:15 to Saturday, 8 April, 2017 - 22:00
Great School Theatre, Ivry Street, Ipswich

Ipswich Scouts & Guides are presenting their annual entertainment extravaganza between 5th and 8th April at the Great Hall, Ivry Street, lightsrIpswich.

Further details and booking forms are available from the Gang Show website (click on link). Tickets may also be purchased at Craftability in the town centre.

5 Minute Fillers

Challenge your Scouts’ literary and creative skills with this quick-thinking game.

Divide your Scouts into teams of 5 people and give each team some paper and pens.

Shout out a word made up of more than four letters.

The teams must write the word in a line down the left hand side of their piece of paper.

On the right hand side they must do the same but this time, they should write the word backwards.

Then (depending on how long the word is) give them a few minutes to write down words to fill in the lines between the first and last letters.

The first team to complete all of the lines wins.

Here’s an example:

Gone Home : Albert Newlands

I’m sorry to have to tell you that one of our older members, Albert Newland, died on Christmas Day. I have spoken to his wife Jean who understandably is very upset. Not only was Albert a member of the Scout Active Support but also had an active part with the 7th Ipswich Scout Group for many years. A true gentleman that will be sadly missed.

We now have the date and time for the funeral which is January 27th at 10.45 at the West Chapel, Cemetery Lane, Ipswich

Ipswich Gang Show - Mini Gang Auditions

Saturday, 26 November, 2016 - 16:00
11th Ipswich Scout HQ

This is an open invitation for applications to join the 2017 mini gang cast, and auditions will be held on Saturday 26th Nov 2016 at the 11th Ipswich HQ – Chesterfield Drive, Ipswich. Auditions will run from 4:00pm – 5:30pm, and we will ask the cubs to do a little singing, movement, speaking and miming.  Those attending should arrive in uniform.

We welcome applications from all children who will be active Cub Scout members as at Easter 2017.  If successful, they will perform as cub scouts in the 2017 Ipswich Gang show, therefore if you have interest from any child that will be nearing scout age at this time, please contact me on the number below to discuss. In addition, if there are any Beavers that will be starting their link up to Cubs before Christmas and may be interested in auditioning, please could you pass this information on to them?

Rehearsals for the mini gang item within the main show will start on Saturday 7th January 2017, at Christchurch, Tacket Street, and successful cubs will be expected to attend rehearsals every Saturday – 4pm – 5:30pm, until the show at Easter.  Actual show dates are 5th – 8th April 2017 inclusive, with stage rehearsals being held at the Great School Ivry Street (the theatre) from Saturday 1st April onwards.  Please note that whilst the actual show dates will remain fixed, stage rehearsal dates will be confirmed following discussion with the Main Gang Production Team.

This really is a fantastic opportunity for our cub scouts to be part of an entertaining, fun, and rewarding challenge, that really promotes the idea of “the Family of Scouting”.   In addition, the cubs get to earn their Entertainer’s badge too!!

To get a feel for numbers for this year’s auditions, I would be grateful if you could firstly forward the above information to each of your cubs, and ask them to reply directly to me, giving their name, age, and contact details by Friday 25th November 2016.  Please feel free to copy this letter to each of your cub scouts – my contact details are at the bottom of the page.

Once again many thanks.  I hope you can encourage your cub scouts to participate.  We also look forward to seeing you all at the 2017 show!!

Yours in scouting
